About Us

Indy Community Yoga is a worker-run nonprofit cooperative that leads free and accessible yoga, qi gong, and silent meditation for everyday people.

Practicing-with Other People, without Trouble

Our Practice Leaders take care of placemaking and timekeeping so that everyone can be together and practice without trouble. May through October, we practice outside, under big shade trees on the grass, in the company of people, both human and non-human. When everything around is being natural, it’s much easier to be natural ourselves. In colder months, we practice indoors, doing our best to be able to see the sky.

Our foundational attitude is that we practice-with, not teach-to. This is why we refer to our role as “Practice Leader” and not “Teacher”. In practice, we are all people, equal. There are no bosses, no police. We practice in a circle: there’s no front or back of the room.

We Take It Easy

Our pace is easy. You are always free to move as your body recommends in movement practice, and we practice meditation without words and without striving.

There’s no such thing as showing up late or leaving early. Arrive when you can and leave when you want. The door is always open in both directions.

Our movement practices are set up so that you can rediscover ease in your body and ease in your breathing. There is nothing to achieve or attain.
